Dairy Free Spiced Hot Chocolate

It's easy to make spiced hot chocolate for one with common pantry items, and the result blows store-bought mix out of the water. Choose your favorite dairy free milk, simmer, and enjoy.

Ingredients

1 cup milk of choice, such as almond or coconut

3 tablespoons raw cacao powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

Pinch cayenne, optional

Pinch sea salt

1 tablespoon coconut oil or cacao butter, melted

3 teaspoons liquid sweetener of choice (honey, maple syrup, coconut syrup)

Preparation

In a small saucepan over medium heat, heat milk until very warm, just before boiling. Add all ingredients and whisk aggressively (alternately, blend for 20 – 30 seconds). Serve immediately.
