Drinks
An assortment of drinks suitable for celebrations, holiday gatherings, and good old pick-me-ups. At least a few make good gifts, too.
This plant-based take on the classic holiday drink has all the rich, delicious flavor you love about eggnog. Blended cashews and coconut milk give it a creamy, luxurious texture while cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla add the flavors of the season. Serve it virgin or with your favorite booze!
This recipe is a slight variation on traditional Mexican tepache that pre-dates Spanish colonization. Although there is no set “formula” for tepache, it is generally made from fermenting the rinds of pineapple with sugar, water, and spices. Crisp, tangy and effervescent with a spicy bite, this tepache is excellent served cold, over ice or as part of a mixed drink. (Photo credit: Emily Anderson)
Step aside ginger ale and make room for the new—er, old—kid on the block. This recipe returns to ginger beer’s fermented roots with an added dash of vanilla for extra flavor. Once you taste this crisp, zingy ginger beer, it will be hard to return to store bought ginger ales. It’s the perfect recipe for those new to fermenting beverages: simple with very little active prep time. (Photo credit: Emily Anderson)
My Grandma would make her wassail for the neighborhood children on Halloween and serve it hot or cold depending on the weather. Growing up I loved to drink hot wassail next to the wood stove on cold winter nights. The clove-studded citrus perfumes the entire house with a warm, sweet aroma.
Beat the Summer heat with these blended peach margaritas. This recipe was born out of a dire need to use up some very, very ripe peaches from the farmers market. It just so happened to be happy hour. You can use tequila or lose the booze altogether and enjoy as a mocktail, but smokey mezcal is an ideal flavor companion to sweet peaches.
Perfectly balanced with healthy veggies, sweet fruits, and refreshing lemon, this smoothie is the perfect antidote to sluggish days. And it makes enough to keep you energized throughout the week.
This spicy, comforting drink will warm you up on a cold morning, or any time of day. Simply simmer tea with spices, strain, and you'll have chai concentrate for a few weeks.
Soothing lemon balm meets spicy ginger and bright lemon in this healing cup. If you have a scratchy throat or a cough, our homemade remedy may be just what you need.
It's easy to make spiced hot chocolate for one with common pantry items, and the result blows store-bought mix out of the water. Choose your favorite dairy free milk, simmer, and enjoy.
A touch of lavender elevates lemonade into something special. Enjoy it on its own or use as a base for cocktails.
Impress your guests with this cool-weather cocktail. Infused with ginger, lime, and rye, it's perfect for the holiday season.
Parsley gives this fruity smoothie an interesting edge, which you can easily upgrade into a hearty breakfast bowl with your toppings of choice.
This cocktail satisfies so many cravings at once, we're not even sure how to categorize it. Best when peaches are in season, but just as delicious with ripe apples and sweet nectarines.
This thyme lemonade is the perfect drink for summer heat. Paired with gin, it also makes for a lovely year-round cocktail. Grab those sprigs fresh from the garden and get to juicing.
